Two smiles

One of my Niece and the other of my brother in law Peter. Converted to monocrhome. Any comments?

It looks a little flat, not too much, but I would like to see the contrast upped a tad. It's a nice composition, but it would have been great if your brother in law had been looking at the camera.
Not a bad picture all in all though.

Can you crop in a bit on the left, and give it more space on the right?
Then burn down the background a little more.
A tad more contrast would also be cool.
