I'm a noob, so take this with a grain I suppose, but can you get back there when the sun is behind you? I like the composition and think it'd be a better natural shot with the sun at your back or over the shoulder. Just my 2 cents.

I think having the sun in the frame is good composition in this shot, and the HDR is not terrible. My only complaint is the rock outcropping that covers part of the road.

I like the sun as well and I see what you mean with the road. I took a few others but they were cut off even more. It's only a few minutes from my house so ill try to go back one of these days and recompose.
