Hi Everyone,

I have a question about close ups. How do you get the really cool pictures of insects etc, close up? Today I found loads of ants, carrying eggs around, and I thought it would make an awesome picture to get one of these close up. My best attempt is below, with a cropped picture below that.

The lens adapter was resting on the bricks, setting the lens almost on top of the ants, and still, it is so far away. Even the cropped picture is small, and loses resolution if you enlarge it.

I am using a Kodak Z650, so if there is a particular lens I need, does anyone know if there is one that will fit on to my camera? Any help or advice would be welcomed. :)

Thanks!

Patrick

If you've got an old 35mm SLR laying about, a set of extension tubes [non-automatic] and reversing ring will get the dog walked for minimal cost. As macro work is very slow and deliberate, the cost of film will not be a problem.
