Urgent Critique needed - College folio for monday

okay i have tried to do my folio on the fly (in the past 3 days) in between working too
anyways here goes, be as harsh as you like (i don't like the nightshot's to be honest, too much flare in them)
ugh I'm never using my lens hood again...
You don't have to critique them one by one, all i am asking is that you critique it as a whole folio (its to enter college which i doubt ill get into as I rushed the images and they are pretty rubbish imo)
It was my first time trying night photography, the only thing i have doen to the images (night ones) is lower the temperature to remove the yellow colour caused by the street lights

A lot of them seem out of focus or underexposed to me.
Nothing really 'pops'.

To me your best ones are #5 and the tiles of the kiddo.

I can do a photo by photo if you want, but you said you didn't need it so there's my quick input.

i agree that many of them are oof and underexposed. I don't think the night shots are that bad. Also the composures seem to be off in almost all of them

agree. many are underexposed and out of focus. The compositions in some are off. For example, the brown duck/swan, you cut the bottom off it.
This is for a college portfolio to gain entrance? You really need to take time with it, don't rush, add a variety of images, not 6 night shots, 5 of ducks and a 3 other randoms. It seriously looks like you threw this together in 1 day.

If you really wanted to get in, you would of put the time in to take proper pictures. These are things that I wouldn't want to present in a college portfolio. It seems to me like you did this in about 30 mins just walking around outside.

Underexposed and out of focus and basic elements IMO. You do have some nice composition shots in there, and hopefully that will be your selling point to gain entrance.

Overall, kind of meh.

I have to agree, they seem out of focus. To me, the story they tell is you walked around with a P&S camera on a 30 minute lunch break (other than the fact they are at night) and took pictures of whatever was around. Some of those shots only needed to be composed better. Maybe a different angle than making it look like you just walked up, pointed, and clicked. I'd personally be embarrassed to send this as a proper portfolio. It's like walking in to a business interview in jeans/t-shirt.

I really do embrace the harsh critique but to be honest i feel you could be a little more harsh

anyway, went to the interview, he said they were okay (i know they arent but he only looked at thumbnails about 200x250 px thankfully thus causing most the motion to not be so distinct
but he said, i could go out, shoot a new folio of about 50 really good images or i could go for an interview for the NQ course which i decided to do as i was originally looking for the nq course but couldn't fined it

so i got a result
