I recently bought my wife a Nikon F55 slr camara and we are having issues with getting the best out of it. We are both new to photography so do not really understand how the camara works fully and the user manual that came with it wasn't completely clear.

Is there a clear user guide out there written for beginners?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Swoop and welcome to the forum. The sticky at the top of this area has some definitions and terms which may help you "translate" the manual.

I'd suggest by working on three basics - focus, depth-of-field and length of exposure. Have a look at which parts of your camera and it's film affect these three areas and then try to recreate some shots you like by identifying what's the main element in the shot.

Also, for your camera there may be additional information on the Nikon site:

Good luck

Nice choice of the F55, i guess if you want to get into more creative shots, you need to learn all the basics about photography,
Theres plenty of good links on the web
www.dcviews.com has some short tutorials, but they have some good information in them,

Theres plenty of good sites around the net, try a google search,

Post up some pictures when you get some good ones!
