USS Slater

Nicely done..

Fine looking ship.

Wow! Thanks for sharing, that's a fine looking ship. Were you able to board it?

I was a Sea Cadet in my early teens and intended on joining the Royal Navy but circumstances intervened to prevent that. I regret this but I always like seeing war ships.

This ship is operated and maintained by a crew of ex-military and they provide tours of the ship.
I've been on her a couple of times.

I spent several months temporarly assigned to the the Destroyer Escort USS Gary(DER 326) chasing a Russian Flotilla around the Caribbean back in the 70's. She had been reconfigured for electronic monitoring. Had a hurricane show up and we sped(at 19 kts) our way up to Bermuda and tied up at some rich guy's dock until it blew over. Which is probably why I'm still here.:). Nice photo of a hardworking class of ship.

Every time I see a ship like this, I think of my dad. When I was a kid, I would call this a "boat" and he, being a Navy guy, would cuss and say "It's not a boat, it's a SHIP!!!" after a while, as a teenager, I would say "Boat" just to aggravate him. Hahaha! How old is this ship? Looks like WW1 camouflage. I like the colors and interesting image. Thanks for sharing!
