Wow spectacular sky here, you couldnt ask for better!
Compositionally I will add my 2 cents. After reflection I do think I like the original better than Ceeboy14's crop, but I understand what he was trying to do. I do feel that what the original shot is missing is foreground interest. I can see what you were trying to do with the path, after you mentioned it. However I would have tried a few other angles, trying to get lower in order to lengthen the apparent distance down the path while keeping it constrained to the rule of thirds. I also would have tried shooting wider and taking a little more from the sky in exchange for the foreground. Just my opinion because I like my sky to primarly support my subject, not be the subject. The sky as subject works well for many photographers though, Rodney Lough Jr in particular.
