Various Flowers

No Comments??? :( - I haven't een doing this for very long so any comments whether these are any good or if they just come over as snapshots would be very much appreciated :blushing:

These are beyond the snapshot stage, that much is for sure!
You get close up to the flowers, you work with DOF and you get the focus fairly right. In some cases people may argue that DOF is too short (i.e. your lens is too wide open). I myself am not too much a fan of foreground DOF (blurred parts in front, as to be seen in Photos 5 and 6), I find it distracting. But the first 4 look good, and my personal favourites are 2 and actually 5, because of the colours.

Thanks Corinna! Will continue working on the DOF - sadly here in Belgium the flowers are already on the way out. Autumn is here with rain, rain, rain :(

Not much different from North Germany ... but you'll find the autumn flowers, once the rain is gone! I'm sure! Plus (as you can see in your first photo here) rain drops are a nice extra in flower photos!

I love 5 &6 for the shallow depth of field! Particularly number 5.

I really enjoyed this set. I think you have a nice eye for this kind of work. #1 was my favorite - I like the contrast of the orange and greeen colors, and the water on the petals adds some nice detail.

I don't mind some things being out of focus in the foreground, but sometimes (especially in #5) it can be a bit distracting.

#4 is my favorite. I love the DoF and the amazing blue.
1 The composition is off. The flower leads your eye right out of the shot. It needs more room at the top and less empty space to the left.

Thanks everybody for your input!! Enjoyed the two websites Mishele, especially the 41, some really amazing shots there!!

You are off to an exceptionally good start. My favorites are 4 & 5; especially #5 I love the colors and the softness. As Mishele mentioned, watch your composition. I really wanted to say I liked #1, but it really does need more room at the top. Basically what botherd me most was the clipping off of the two orange petals, but that aside, this is a really nice set.
