Artcraft just vibe coded the entire Adobe suite, using AI, in a new lightweight, programming language called Rust.

7 programs which are the are alternatives to Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, InDesign, After Effects, and Acrobat, now have free to use, open source clones.

While it looks like there is still some way to go, the software does seem useable, and this is only the first version of the software. It might be a good alternative for those who are just starting out, or don't want to pay Adobe's subscription.

Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I'm pretty sure you can still have a copyright on source code. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Bookmarked incase it turns out to be good.

Thanks for reporting. Could be a new age in open source software.

I suspect there will be a lawsuit, but it'll be difficult case to build, as if the developer is to be believed, none of Adobe's code was used.

In other words, they've copied the effect, and written it from scratch in an entirely different language.

It'll be an interesting one to watch anyway!

I'm thinking about trying these

They are open source and free, plus they work with Adobes file formats (like PSD), so no reason not to try them out.

I think there are still some areas where the implementation is not quite as good as Adobe, but hopefully it'll get a bit better with future refinement and we'll have a good open source alternative.
