View Finder "grid"

Does anyone have any experience with the grids that are available to put in your viewfinder?

My recent health issues have been giving me trouble with my peripheral vision and I thought \having a RoT grid in my viewfinder might help with my composition; so I can avoid re-cropping so much in PP.

I always use them and find them to be a great help to me in composing. I got the Eg-d focusing screen for my 5DMKII shortly after buying the body, and it works great. The 7D came with the ability to show a grid, and when I use that body, I always have my grid on.

I think you can have a grid displayed when you use live view, if that is helpful for you.

Yes you can (on the 50D anyway). But I don't use Live View very often. I am more comfortable with the viewfinder...

Yes... That's exactly what I mean. $45... A bit expensive for what it is though... Hmmm economics.

I had no trouble at all installing it. It was easy and took only a few seconds. There's a little tool that comes with it to make the change. Just do it where you don't have dust problems.

I used to like the Nikon "E" grid screen....after a while, it becomes almost invisible in normal use, but is VERY handy when using wide-angles, as an aid to keeping the camera squared up, and also it's handy as a framing aid.
