Took this shot yesterday along the Columbia River in Oregon.

This just doesn't grab me. The plants might be OK photographed close up for the detail and texture, but not much of that comes through here. The image is a little flat, especially the background, probably due to haze, but the background doesn't really do much for the composition anyway. It looks like a good spot to go back to and try different angles, etc. The best approach to what is in the frame might be to crop about 35% of the frame on the right and crop the bottom to leave just a sliver of water, and then to increase the contrast.
 
I agree with KenC about the image being flat, but disagree on where to take the composition. The cat tails (are those plants cat tails?), are really interesting and provide a lot of depth in terms of contrast, but I think you would be missing out on a great image if you just cropped the landscape out. I say go try some more angles. It's definitely worth it!
