Vivitar 485HV vs Niko SB600

So Vivitar seems to be better...
Better? Only in some fairly limited ways.

The Vivitar is a much simpler strobe light and has fewer features.

You cannot use Nikon's iTTL or CLS with the Vivitar 285HV.

The big advantage the Vivitar 285HV has over the Nikon SB-600 is the price, if you know how to use the 285HV and the camera in manual mode.

Well they would be used. Check your local craigslist, or ebay. Or the buy/selll section here. I see them go for $150-175 all the time.

I just ordered one at best buy and I asked if they would price match, they had it for 220 in the case got it for 199 as that what it was listed on amazon

Where do you see a sb600 on amazon for 199..? I cannot find it below 279..

Jake

Nikon SB 600 - Hot-shoe clip-on flash - Soft case - 30M#

Just in case if someone looking for used price on 285hv. I picked up 3 used one in past (from different persons at different time) for $50 each from local craigslist. And I think that is a fair price.
