Vivitar lens found at flea market....need your suggestions

Hey everybody I bought a Vivitar macro zoom lens for $4 bucks. I took a chance not knowing whether it would work with my D5100. After some,research I learned that it's a lens for Minolta srt or X-700. I've been wanting a vintage macro lens since I can't afford a new one. So my question is : Should I buy a decent cheap adapter or a low priced Minolta. What are your ideas? I have attached some shots I took of it. I exaggerated on the edit so you can see that it's real dirty and if you think it has fungus. I checked with my flashlight, but can't tell. If it's worth cleaning what cleaning method would you use?

I would not put that on any camera body I cared about! Call it a $4.00 losing lottery ticket and use it for a paper-weight.

It's a Minolta mount anyway. You'd spend far more than $4 buying an adapter...... if such a critter exists.

It does exist, but you're probably right I will end up spending more money.
