Vivitar v6000 LED Rocker Question.

I have just got a Vivitar v6000, which is working very well, but for one thing: the LED rocker (that you use to change shutter speed) works, but it is difficult to get the LEDs in the viewfinder to show in the first place. This means it is very awkward to change the shutter speed.

Is this an issue with the camera, or is it just a design flaw?

I have tried changing the batteries, which didn't help.

My guess is that there is a wire inside the body that is barely hanging on causing a loss of power issue to the LEDs. Might need to be re-soldered. You'd have to open it up and do some digging. Could be that the LEDs need to be replaced as well.
