Pelican at rest .... compositon comments - too much water or just right?

Youre going to have to learn to take my criticisms with a grain of salt, (haha) but I think there is actually too little water. I think it would work better with the pelican moreso to the left. Just a tad, not much. Just my opinion, good safe photo though.

Not more ... .less..

Orig had lots of water and I cropped to get closer to the bird ... Was just wondering if I should have cropped closer, and got more 'bird' detail, or if the crop is OK.. Still have the RAW, so can changed if necessary..

Guess it depends on if I want a picture that focus's on a Bird, ... .or if I want a picture of a bird that's sitting on some water...
