I make this a sticky in my forum. It does work and work well.

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Well, I've just tried applying those settings, but so far I'm not seeing a noticeable difference. That said I'm streaming radio at the moment and it's a busy time of night out here on what passes for broadband. Maybe it'll be more obvious in the morning.

It was a HUGE difference for me. But I spend a ton of time on Forums all day.

I own one and belong to 5 or so that I am VERY active on.

Well if one primarily photo's and another is primarily Car talk all in Text. No photos, or sig's or any sort of animation,Your load time will be dramatically different.

Daft question, but do you need to close and re-open the browser before it takes effect?

You might try that but not to my knowledge.

You are the first person that didn't notice anything.

Try this.

Fasterfox.

It does all that, and more. I used to do it that way back in the day...but now they have an extension to do it for you.
