Washington Monument at Sunrise

Planned on taking pictures of the Lincoln Memorial this morning, but there were already people out there camping on the steps. I caught this as the sun was coming up after shooting Lincoln (no pun intended). This was cropped to remove a lot of the steps and foreground clutter.

The only thing I don't care for this is the vingnetting in the corners. Any suggestions on how to remove that would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty nice. I guess they are doing some type of construction/renovation? Do you know what the story is? I think once that scaffolding is down and you can go back and try and pull some detail out of the monument itself you'll have an amazing shot!

They a are still repairing the damage done from the Earthquake we had a few years ago. I have no idea when it'll be done, but it seems every time I turn around one of the monuments is being worked on. Right now, it's the Washington, WWII memorial as well as the Korean War Memorial. That's 3 monuments on the Mall that have some kind of maintenance going on. I went out and shot some of the WWII yesterday, and could only shoot 3 out of the 4 sides because of the maintenance. Which is the side towards the Lincoln monument.

Monuments in landscapes add drama and strength to a photograph. Your series is good. A ground shot would be different with the light emanating from the trees, possibly done in HDR.

^ Thats a shame. I think to practice your settings/post processing this is good. However with the construction its going to be hard to get a wall hanger so to speak.
