Well, with the recent rash of water droplet threads, I just couldn't help myself. I used a 10 gallon fish tank, red construction paper, hallmark wrapping paper, a microphone stand, a cake bag nozzle, some paper towel, a bit o' tape, some zip ties, a baggie, my photomaker and an SB-600.

That and a Tom Collins or three......

I'm really happy with the results, and I will now retire the water drops for a while.

At least a week.

Maybe.

nice I like your low perspective. I just posted a thread of water drops too. The recent rash of them inspired me to give it a go.

Nice . Would love to give this a go one day, this and a smoke project would be pure fun.

#3 definitely ....i love the detail of background on the drop and the reflection nice going :)

These are much better than most. You might want to consider some slight tweaks in post and some creative cropping.

Thanks everyone!

And Wilsan, even though you hijacked my thread........ nice shots. ;)

I was really pleased at how these turned out. My goal was to have as shallow as DOF as possible adn still keep a decent focus to give the droplets a real sense of size and depth. That has been a real challenge fro me. I also wanted the backdrop (in this case a piece of wrapping paper taped to the outside of the fishtank) to have as big of an impact on the droplets as possible, without being distracting.

Kundalini, Great edit! You're right, that these are pretty generic crops, aren't they. I will probably spend more time with them as I learn how to use my PP program a little more. Thanks for the example!

I don't think a shallow DoF is necessary or desireable if you want to increase your keeper rate. With enough distance to the background, it should go out of focus anyway. I use a macro lens when I do water drops, so I'll be at f/16 or so. If you're using a normal lens, try stopping it down to f/8, then start opening up the lens if the blur is not to your liking. Be mindful of bright portions of your background that become distracting.

Sorry, couldn't help myself with one more edit.........

You got too close to the water drops..I think moving back a little bit could've done better
I love them anyways =)

And here I was thinking that on a few of them I didn't get close enough!

The fact is they are all crops. The original image would probably be much more to your liking, since it shows much much more.

Thanks for taking the time to give me your input! :D

 Awesome job!

The colors look great.

And yes, i think the hijacker images are nice looking too.

Thanks all! :D

I'm going to try and give the water drops a rest for a while. It's going to be tought though..... its such an easy and convenient way to take photographs of things after the kids go to bed, and I can't leave the house.

Off to look for other things to get on "film"

-To the BatCave!!!!-

(sorry, Sudafed really does a number on me.)
