Water Lilly for C&C.

Most assuredly not in focus. Looks warm to me as well.

Ok I get that. Now the question is did I just miss the focus or is my lens just soft? I have looked at the original and I really can't find a true focal point. This was shot with an 18-135 at f/6.3. As zoomed in as I was it should have ALL been in focus. Any help or insight?

shutter speed? handheld? moving boat? It's a really small picture for us to really judge the sharpness. Give us a little to go on here. lol

Camera Canon EOS 60D
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture f/6.3
Focal Length 271 mm
ISO Speed 100

Are the other flower shots in your stream shot with the same lens? Those look to be OK.

For a lens to be THAT soft...I mean jeez. I think you missed focus.

Ah I think you just pointed something out to me. It was with a different lens. It's a tamron 70-300 that I have had problems with before!

For sale: barely used Tamron 70-300f/4-5.6! :-)

Before you dump it, the 60d should have micro focus adjustment. give it a try first. The bottom of the image looks crisp. Did you by anychance focus, and then recompose the shot?

I think you might have missed the focus, the water lilly that is sticking out the water on the bottom middle looks to be pretty sharp.

Unfortunately that's one of the things that the 60D does not have. I was torn between the 60 and the 7D for this very reason. The 60 finally won due to the swivel screen and a slightly lower cost. I'm going to give the lens another chance, if for no other reason than I can't afford to replace it right now. I would love to replace it with anything "L" but that'll have to wait. Thanks for the input. As for recomposing, that's exactly what I did. I guess I hoped at F/6.3 it would be more in focus even if I did miss it a little. Oh well.

You're kidding??? My50D has it and they left it out of the 60D?? Thats just stupid on Canons part.

Thats the bad thing about recomposing, I am not sure how far out this was but lets say 30' you would only have around 6" in front and back of the focused area. You have a focus point right there anyway.

Unfortunately I'm not. It's been a pretty upsetting subject for Canon. I don't know if they can reprogram them for it but I bet sales have suffered due to it. As for me it wasn't a complete deal breaker but I really didn't realize it until I had already ordered it.

I would have done the same thing, I havent had to use it yet, but you never know when a lens wants to drift off a hair.

Hey here's a much better version. I guess that lens isn't all that bad after all. I'm just that bad a photographer. I really had to process this one a lot. I guess the end result is what it's all about. What do you think?

MUCH better. It still looks warm to me though. Wasn't the lily white? Or was it a very pale yellow?
