Ways to improve HDR?

I think it's strong work overall and with a few tweaks I think you could have some winners. #1, I'll state the obvious and say that the angle needs to be straightened. I think it's a cool picture, but the contrast is so strong that I'm lost. HDR is really good for pulling out detail on objects, but there's a point when it becomes way too much. It's like being drunk at party...you're right at that perfect level of drunk where you're happy but then you take one more strong drink and the nausea hits. That's #1 for me. Good thing, but just that little too much that pushes me over the edge.

The others are more compositional than technical. #2 the subject is really being defined by it's contrast against the sky, but only for two thirds of it. Remove that hill from the picture and I would be hot for it. Obviously that's not possible, but you get what I mean. #3, crop out the trees on the left. The picture is serenity and peace and simplicity...the trees are just complicating it.

Thank you for your advice! :)
