That's a 'Swastik'. In sanskrit, it means 'god well being' or 'welcome'. It has been an auspicious symbol for hindus since Vedic times.

Cheers.

These are very nice images!

Jon, when I first went to Korea, they were everywhere. Not the same meaning that we would think of. They are a religious symbol.

Thanks Woodsac. Cheers.

just really neat shots.... i am guessing the rice on the coconut represents maybe long life... fertility possibly??? can you tell me?

and the paper she hands him..what is that?? and the burning??
and i am also guessing that the seeds on the paper is fertility also??

these are so very interesting..and i love the detail of the henna on her hands..i think you did a great job!!

because the n a z i (why does this word blank out, hence im spacing it!) symbol is similar... well you can probably even mistake the two for the other.

Thanks for sharing these Nidhi, look forward to more :D

Yes, perhaps. I not quite sure.

The paper is an envelope containing money.

They are offering Ghee (purified butter) in the fire to please the gods. This ritual is called 'Havan'.

Cheers.

Thanks a lot, Mansi. Cheers.
