I'm certainly not an expert, but if I may make an observation. I've noticed in looking at your captures that you tend to center subjects. While there isn't anything inherently wrong with centering, there are instances when offsetting your subject can have greater impact. In this case I like the DOF, and the color pops against the background. The dead-center shot though is uncomfortable to my eye. If that's what you're going for it's fine, only the photographer who made the photograph can say what's correct. But from an observer's view, offsetting can be very appealing. Poke around the internet and look into the "Rule of Thirds".

In this case I cropped the photo to get the main focal point toward the lower left. To my eye, this is more welcoming. Of course, YMMV.
