It's a cool subject but nothing too striking about the shot. a lot of dead space. I would like to see a shot from closer in.

A difficult shot for sure. It looks like he's working in the dark, or almost. It's a work in progress. I'm wondering if background flash would ruin the arcs from the slow shutter speed.

Im a welder and Always thought it would be cool to get some good shots of this. The place I work at doesnt allow cameras so Im screwed in that respect. Maybe you can get closer and put the camera in a hood and get some shots that way.

i appreciate the input - and yes its very dim at work.
i have a tripod ordered, should be arriving soon.

i also want to shoot some surface grinding up close.
