What are opportunities and challenges in the area of photography innovation?

Hi. I'm new to this forum and I'm interested in photography. I'm now exploring the area of innovation in photography, which includes both system and equipment (camera). Can anyone provide any ideas of opportunities and challenges in this area for now or in the future. Also, is there any innovative technology that has been used in this area, either on system or cameras? What will be the trend in the future? Hope someone can help figure it out. Thank you.

While I am not going to do your homework for you, I will suggest that you google "light field camera". There are no promises, but that's my favorite for innovative technologies to change the face of photography in the next 20 years.

To be honest, after a few hours on Facebook, any images without text seem innovative. I like the light field camera suggestion-after looking it up on Google, they seem pretty cool.
