What can I do with my Photos?

Step #1 Are you shooting in RAW? If not, you should be.........

Why?

Because it sounds "edgier".. obviously. I mean think about it, somebody asks what kind of pictures you take and you say "RAW!" and man, you sound like a bad apple. Say "JPG" and it sounds like your ordering a glass of milk in a biker bar.

Lol

Lol

Usually, when someone shoots in raw, they get arrested for indecent exposure.......

If you lack the passion needed to deliver work that is worth selling, maybe this isn't for you?
Get to know your camera and your photography style first. Think of your camera as an extension of yourself. You need to learn everything there is to know about it before you can put it to good use. I myself am not perfect by any means and I do sell my skills as a photographer, but it didn't start with a big light bulb over my head saying, "I'll buy a camera and make tons of money taking peoples pictures!' no, not at all. My skills evolved over a hobby, turned into a romance, and is now a small business.
Do a little free lance shooting at a local park and see what draws you in, is it the people? The flowers and landscape? The birds? Or that huge industrial building next door to the park? Find something you love to look at and capture it. If it's still "boring" I suggest selling your camera or gifting it to one of the artistic people in your life. Good luck!

Hi I bought my first dslr camera and I like taking pictures and all but i'm wondering what can I do with the photos I take? Can i sell them? I'm not sure its kinda getting boring.

This may sound goofy, but challenge yourself to focus on one type of subject each time you shoot.

For instance, grab your camera tomorrow and shoot only those things that are yellow. Or round. Or over five feet tall. Or heavy. Or made of brick.

A few years back, my brother hit a wall. He was just at a loss for what to shoot. He decided to approach his shooting in the manner above, and it rekindled his creativity and drive.

Give it a shot. The worst that could happen is that you end up with photos of things that are yellow. Or round. Or over five feet tall. Or heavy. Or made of brick...

I agree, why? There is no reason to shoot raw, especially as the Op is just starting out. This whole have to shoot in raw crap is just that, a huge pile of crap. The op is already bored with pictures, I would simply suggest that the op take up another hobby.

Rotfl.. yup, there goes the keyboard. I really should know better than to read through this stuff while drinking coffee.. lol

If it's boring you can do what another member did. Set up a home based studio then post on here you have no idea what you're doing. That'll keep you busy for a while.

Ok, that's three keyboards in one night. That's it.. no more coffee while reading this stuff.. lol

Get one of these and take some shots of the neighbors.

This has to be one of the weirdest threads I've seen on TPF to date.

To the OP... seriously... sell your stuff and go learn to paint or something. If it's already boring then you're clearly barking up the wrong tree.

See.. the Rabbit is a genius! A genius I tell you!!! Ok, op, here's exactly what you do - being a pro photographer obviously is barking up the wrong tree, so instead of wasting your time you rent your services out to wildlife photographers by barking up the right tree. You chase a squirrel up the right tree, keep him cornered there so the wildlife photographer can get the shots he wants, then charge the guy an hourly fee for your services - heck if your real good maybe you can even charge per squirrel!

Yes... Rabbit is good, rabbit is wise indeed... lol

I think it's a decent question. Art is not created in a vacuum, unless you are van Gogh, Emily Dickinson, or Kafka.

Most people are not van Gogh, Dickinson, or Kafka, and most people get bored with an art that has no audience. Maybe posting online is not a satisfactory audience for you. There is a wider audience for photography than just the internet, but it's still not a very lucrative one. You can show in galleries, for example. Art shows. You can enter contests and calls. You can submit to magazines. You can build a portfolio and do freelance work. There's also stock photography. It has already been mentioned that photography is a tough gig to "make a living." But you can earn a little on the side by doing weddings, portraits, or events. You can try hitting up a local newspaper and pitching them an assignment. Making money in photography is a lot of hustle. You have to be motivated and persistent. I suppose the main thing to ask yourself is: Do you really want to make money or are you just unsatisfied with your audience?
