What info can you give me on this lens?

Looking at one of these to buy but I can't find any info, I've found other sigma's in gold trim logo style that looked newer but nothing on this one.

I was wondering what it's worth so I don't overpay and if it's a decent lens to use on the D800.

It's a Sigma 500mm f/4.5 APO, one of their EX series lenses, in the finish from a few years back, made at some time during the 2000's most likely. It was a fairly well-regarded, third-party 500mm prime lens. It has a reputation of being "very good" when used straight, and with its converter, it loses a significant amount of quality.

Thanks a bunch, it just confused me because a lot of the one's I found had the gold label. Didn't see one with a red style label like that.
