What is a lens hood for?

Y'all missed something... many lens hoods are also cut so as to allow additional light in at the corners, which reduces...... that effect where you get darker in the corners, which for SOME reason the name is eluding me at the moment.

Maybe the word you' re missing is "vignette".

You can buy an 3D printer now for £500, in a couple of years they should be quite common, you might be able to make your own lens hood, design a better one.
