what is the defect of my nikon d3100 camera?

what is the defect of my nikon d3100 that the capture image from daylight has visible line at the upper portion of the image? about 1/8 of the captured image has visible line that has darker color from the the whole image. please help me find solution to this problem....

Sounds like maybe shooting flash with the shutter at too high of a shutter speed. Or maybe there is an actual shutter problem or malfunction. Can yuo figure out how to upload a photo to show us the fault? We could probably diagnose it better that way.
