What kind of software would be good to make a book cover?

I'd like to make a book cover. What kind of software is simple to use and could do the job?

If you're talking text and graphics then the likes of Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, they're not that simple to use though. I use Corel for when I'm doing stuff like that so don't know much about easier to use programmes, MS publisher maybe?

Please don't use Publisher. It is a nightmare to work with. Page layout should be done in InDesign. If it is only 1 spread you can use Illustrator. Just like Photoshop has Gimp. Both InDesign and Illustrator have free clones. Or if it a one time project you can use the 30 day free demo of the adobe products. But please, for all that is good and holy in this world, PLEASE do not use MS Punisher.
