We humans tend to be very self-centered, and living, as most of us do, in an urban environment, means that we surrounded by stuff made by or affected by humans. And yet, there is a bigger world out there. When we get down to it, we live on a small planet around a star that's just above dwarf size (as stars go), in a relatively sparse neighbourhood out in one of the arms of our galaxy. Looking at the night sky is a reminder that we live in a larger world than we normally perceive. This is a link to an annual contest run by "The World at Night" organization that aims to promote photography of the night sky that links us to that larger world. The latest contest is linked here: The 2013 Earth & Sky Photo Contest Winners. If you enlarge the video of the winning entries and the notable mentions, you should have a treat. Oh, and turn the sound on. ;)
