What's with all the bugs!

Why not some candy! In this case, Eileen's Licorice Hollows.

Canon 550D with 100mm/f2.8 Macro USM lens. 0.5 sec, f11, ISO 200. Diffused natural light. I reduced the color saturation a little and boosted luminance up (this gives enhanced details while preserving dynamic range).

The lighting is flat, the colours are not vibrant enough, and the candies look unappealing. I once tried a similar shot using M&M's and I got the same results. Sometimes things don't look so appealing when you look at them up close.
