What's new

What's your portrait lens??

All of them! Depending on where I am and what I can get away with.

There's no "1" IMO. But I do use my 70-200 the most unless I'm indoor then sometimes I have to use the 24-105

You could probably get away with the 35mm for environmental and full length portraits. For serious 3/4 and heads shots, you'll be wanting the 85mm + focal lengths IMO.

Hmmm yeah I wish I could afford them really. I think this will have to do for now I eman I spent $300.00 on it so why not keep it.
If it doesn't fit your needs, then it's not worth a dime.

Well all the best advise has been given.

And a 35mm it is going to be!

35 mm is fine I think? 1.5 crop right? I love my 50 mm on full frame. I think it is perfect. So I think I would love 35mm on 1.5 crop. I do use the 70-200mm when I go outdoor though.

Mine can be anything from my 24-70F2.8L to my 300mmF2.8L

Ai-S 50mm F1.2

It gives a shallow DOP which helps greatly with keeping the attention on the subject, and produces "approachable" image quality, meaning it's not razor-sharp like, yet not soft in a bad way. I also love the quality of colors from it. It's also my most used lens given that I do mostly travel/journalistic kind of shots.

Using telephoto lens for portraits gives a feeling that you are seeing the person from a distance away (duh). For portraits, I don't like that, unless I want to portray an "observer" kind of perspective.

For portrait work, I use my 300mm + 1.4x II....
