When you have lost something

How do you find it?

I cant find my passport, last had it 2 and a half weeks ago, when I did my American drivers test. Im going to need it for my mock immigration interview tomorrow....

I regularly loose it, even though it has a special place in the filing cabinet, the passport wasnt in there or with the other stuff I took with me when i did my test...

I hate loosing /missplacing things

Now Im extra worried that I left it in th car rental I did my test in, waiting to hear back fro them to see if its in the car.
