Where to get a cheap 24-70

I will like to buy a nikon 24-70mm 2.8 but i look and its over 1500$ i wondering if someone know a site where i can buy one for cheaper even used ?

Seriously.... good glass costs good money for good reason. And good glass maintains it's resale value well. If everyone were able to buy a $1500 lens for, say $800 every day, why..... we'd all be buying that lens. Keep an eye out on ebay, craigslist, and scroll on down to the Buy & Sell forum.... you may save a c-note.

And despite sparky's sarcasm there actually is a solution. Buy & Sell New & Used Cameras. Keh has a good reputation for understating how good a condition the second hand products really are. You should be able to pick up a 24-70 on there for a reasonable price.

That is a very prized lens. It's the go-to lens of a lot of wedding pros. Since there really is no upgrade, once someone decides to fork over the cash he/she is set on a fast normal zoom. If for some reason someone decides to sell theirs, there are always plenty of folks happy to snap it up for a savings of a few hundred over the cost of new.

However, the cheaper that lens, the more worn/damaged it will be. Professional glass holds their value extremely well. So much, in fact, that you can often sell them used for more than you bought it new with the way lens prices inflate. Look at the 70-200 compared to its price a few years ago.

as mentioned.. there is really no such thing as a cheap 24-70... at least not one that is worth having! Good luck with your search!

What's cheap? You can score one on craigslist for about $1200-1600 or you can pick up a 28-70 for about a grand.

For 1/2 that much ($750) you can get a brand new (used - about $450), with warranty Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4.0D IF AF Zoom Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

As long as you have a Nikon that has the screw-drive AF sytem you'll be good to go.

I've been meaning to get the old 35-70mm. Apparently the optics are great and it is very reasonably priced. It is of the 24-70mm line, obviously doesn't have the zoom range but other than that... I think it is a suitable alternative to the current model. Also there's a Sigma equivalent, not sure how good it is though.

I have it. Just get a lens hood. Not everyone has an issue with flare but many do. Including mine. I picked up the hood for the 70-300 and it works good. It will vignette on a FX body but not on a DX.

Consider the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8. I think it's around $500 new (cheaper used, of course).

Sure, it's it won't be as good as the $1500 Nikor...but it I don't think it's $1000 worse.
