Which 70-300mm telephoto zoom?

Hi all,

After being out today and shooting some wildlife and landscapes I have got a bit frustrated with the amount of CA and lack of sharpness from my old canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 usm (think mark I). so I am thinking of trying to put by a few quid and save up for a new lens. I'm reasonably happy with the 70-300 ish range and was hoping to get advice on what would be a reasonable upgrade. I'd be happy if I could get a similar IQ to my japan 28-105mm but I am more concerned with the longer focal Iengths. I'm thinking of a budget of £300-600 but I am a little flexible with it. Brand does not matter much to me but needs to be a twist zoom. Could you reccomend a half decent upgrade?

For the consumer grade 70-300mm lens, I think the


Canon EF 70-300mm IS lens -> Canon Camera Museum | Camera Hall - Lenses (EF Mount)


Or the

Tamron 70-300mm VC lens -> Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens

I like my 70-300 is lens!!


Think the is is great. Similar to my 24-105 but its a little noisy when first engaging sometimes
