I don't do portraits, so don't have much help to lend, but I do think it's impressive that you've taught that kid to do push-ups already (photo 1)!

The tilted background in the last picture is highly distracting, as is the clutter of the swiffer-type mop, etc. I'd also say it's probably a little underexposed.

I didn't even realize the background was tilted I will have to watch that lol. I knew the background was bad and the first thing I thought was ugg I wish she wasn't facing that way lol.

First image is out of focus, shouldn't have been kept in the first place, image 3 is crooked and looks like a very simple point and shoot, so I suppose if I had to say which one is the best of the bad, image 2, although it looks a little soft as well.

Wow.. I sure do feel sorry for the OP in this thread. I've come to notice that it is hard to get quality answers on this forum. Maybe I misinterpreted the thread, but to me it seems obvious that the OP took some photos and wanted to see which one you liked. it is people like you that are getting me upset with this forum. The OP didn't ask if you think they're bad photos. The OP asked, of the three, which one you liked, so pick one. Second of all you don't know if this were for a client or for her own personal collection. I keep a ton of pictures you would probably deem "bad" but they are for memories not to win some contest. I want to know what the OP gains by you telling her its a BAD photo?

Hey OP.. I like #2. (and sorry for the rant)

I think with some editing, this one could be okay.
Sorry the color's not better... my office laptop's not exactly my work horse. But you get the drift. :p

Thank-you for picking one lol. They are definitely not for a client unless you count me as the client since the pictures are for my daughter. All my pictures will be for my own collection but I would like to try to improve for my own sake because I do enjoy photography a lot.

Maybe some hints to help me improve instead of just they are all bad photo's would be helpful?

Are they really that out of focus? Maybe I just don't have an eye to see. I think I can maybe rotate the one with the crooked background and then crop it so it's more straight would that help?

Wow I wish I was better at editing! What types of things did you do to the picture and what program do you use?

Just photoshop... corrected the exposure a bit, adjusted the colors, sharpened pieces (eyes, nose, mouth, skirt, headband, etc), cropped, extended the background (kinda painfully obviously too, wish I had more time!), and that's about it.

"People like me" well I have to say that I don't really care. The op asked to pick one, I picked one and said why. You picked one and didn't say what was wrong with the other two, it seems to me that if the anyone is posting pictures that are out of focus, then I consider it a bad photo to be posting, it should never have gotten to the point of being posted. If I just came out and said they are all great, would the op have improved, she admitted that she didn't think they were out of focus. If this were for a client, I wouldn't have been too happy, I assumed they were just for her.

I tried editing a little bit more and playing around with some stuff is this better?

Did you take the pictures in RAW or in jpg format? And what are you using to do your corrections?
