Heyy everyone
this is actually kind of embarrassing..:meh:

I kinda have a problem with my D3000
I got it a few weeks ago, and when i try to change the white balance i get an error message that says >This option is not available with current settings<

I dont even know what settings to change
It's reaaally frustrating

Help me pleaaaase

on your automatic with flash and without settings and your like sports and macro and portrait settings you dont have the options of changing the white balance i believe. i believe only full manual and you A/S/P setting will let you adjust yoru white balance.

On the D3000 only the m/a/s/p allow you to change the white balance, the other modes are all preset so all you have to do is point and shoot.

when i use the M and S on my camera all i get is blackness
what can i do about that?

go to auto mode, take a shot, see where the camera puts your settings for aperture and shutter speed. then change over to S or M and adjust to roughly the same settings, this should give you a good starting point.

No, a good starting point would be reading the manual.

well i don't disagree with that.

1) Read the manual
2) Then read it again whilst playing with the camera

Rinse and repeat till things start to sink in - also keep your manual with your camera at all times. Mine used to live in my camera bag for months till I really knew how to use all the various controls and settings (and I still have it for reference for hte custom functions)

Also once you've got a bit more control over the camera I strongly recommend Underestanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson to get a good beginners understanding over shutter speeds, apertures and ISO as well as exposures, creative ideas and overall exposing correctly.
