Shooting against a near white (overcasst) sky and 0-dark thirty minus ten minutes, shooting a moving Snowy Egret can be challenging not to get just a sillouette. To accomplish the shot, I used a manual setting with a 1000 ISO 1/2000 @5.6 D810 80-400 4/5.6 The two shots presented are in color and B&W and I think perhaps as much as I thought I would like the color, the B&W seems to want to tug a bit harder. I was deliberately shooting for a minialist approach, thus the lack of super detail.

the b&w is great. the color is a big miss for me.

I like them both. I thing you hit the target here - they look like paintings - good move not to sharpen (and whatever else you did). The color has some really subtle color variations in the "white" wings and body, while the B&W has nice tonal variations.

It was a toss up for PP work. I've just finished all of the ones I shot in B&W and am looking to make a series of Pt/Pd prints, likely each at 4x5. I may opt to do them all on one sheet of paper and mat accordingly with five frame openings.

I had to look at this twice but I like #1 better. Just me I guess.... :-)
