Took a trip up to Whitefish Point over Memorial day weekend to catch part of the spring migration. Here are a couple of my favorites

1. Semipalmated Plover

2. American Pipit

3. Piping Plover

4. Black-bellied Plover (Huge crop. This guy was extremely skittish!)

5. Semipalmated Sandpiper

Very nice set. Nice capture on the Piping Plover, looks like it's banded, most probably are. Strange seeing the Pipit in that environment. I only see them in cow pastures.

Thanks! The there are bands on the plovers legs, I think they band all the plovers there. Its pretty interesting how much effort goes into helping them. They rope off huge areas around the nesting area and then once eggs are layed will put large mesh wire fence "cages" over them to protect the eggs and chicks from (stupid) humans and other preditors.

Very nice. I can never get close enough to these guys to get any decent pictures.
