Who shoots naked?

I shoot with no filter only when shooting nudes.

When I'm shooting food, I like to rub a little sauce on the lens. For flowers, I use a little honey, and for landscapes I rub a little dirt on there, gently. Shoot like with like, and you can't go wrong.

You mean those round things I pissed all that money away on?

On very rare occasions, I'll use a CP, but that's it. I think I have a star filter in a box somewhere. It was great when I was a kid, but I'm having a difficult time finding even a mildly reasonable application for it now.

Nope, my glass is naked. It's always protected by lens hoods, but pretty much always naked...

Who said it needs to be a piece of **** rather than a fine piece of multicoated glass that comes from some of the same factories as the finest lenses? Filters are cheap because they are flat and easily formed. I piece of **** that doesn't make.

As for the quality a cheap filter will mess with your sharpness. A good filter is indistinguishable on the front of the lens. No really if someone is saying something different they're not using a good filter. If a difference in sharpness can't or even can barely be seen on a 36mpxl sensor then the argument is entirely not field relevant.

On the other hand shooting into light sources will lead to creating a reflection. On cheap filters the reflection is bad. On good filters it's very minor. On crap glass you won't notice over all the other flare. On nice modern glass with great coatings it makes a difference.

Personally I use the filters purely for the value that if I get **** on my lens I can just wipe it off with my dirty shirt without babying my lens using micro fibre cloth or ****y lens pens in the field.

I have taken my UV off when shooting night scenes as it causes glaring. Other than that I take it off when I use other filters, but it goes back on for protecting

For the past several years, since I discovered Newton rings associated with my "protective" UV filters, I only use polarizers and NDs with my digital bodies, only when I want their effects. Most of the time, no filters at all.

I still use UV filters on my film cameras, if shooting outdoors with them, but it has nothing to do with "protection", other than protection from UV light.

I jumped ship and boarded the 'go naked' boat after I realized that I spent years shooting film, and never ONCE had to replace any of the UV filters I had on any of the 11 lenses I owned back then (17mm fisheye excluded).

I still carry various UV filters, but only use them when site conditions warrant their use.

I don't use any filters. Although many years ago I did play around with cokin filters, came away with a few interesting images from time to time.

I use polarizer a when shooting water based thing as it helps with the glare. I do occasionally use ND filters, most recently to shoot water.

While working, I'm typically naked but if I just go out walking, I'm totally protected.
