Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Lightroom 5.3 or Elements 12

No matter what I've tried I can not add a watermark or text (Copyright info) to any of my images. When I try I can see the program trying to do so but, as I'm typing in the info it's extremely small no matter how large I set the text. And, after adding it never shows up on the image. I'm really frustrated please help ! I have followed the help pages instructions to the letter. Am I just too dumb to use editing software ?

I also use LR 5.3 for sig on my images. It works just perfectly for me. Maybe you can try these steps and see if it works for you:

select the image -> right click -> export -> check the watermark checkbox -> select "Edit watermarks" from the drop down besides it -> Create and save your watermark -> Done -> Add preset (for reuse)-> Export

Lightroom allows you to, for brevity, just type in some text (you can set opacity, location, etc) and you can have a quick watermark.
See the link of my photo - I tested it over the weekend and it was quick and simple for a simple watermark (on the bottom left)

The big thing is....you can't see your watermarks on your images UNTIL YOU EXPORT the images. I learned this the hard way too. You can see a sample watermark as you add a new one to your program. You can size it, and reduce opacity and several other features.

If you want to customize your watermark instead of using the metadata information, go to the Edit menu and select the very last option, Edit Watermarks. In the dialog box that pops up, you have the option of customizing a text watermark by changing the text and its size, font, color, and position on your exported images, among other things.

Copy from other source. Or I think you can re-install it and have a another try.
