why do i have to copy a thread and use img code?

If the thread no longer existed, we would not see anything but a "X"
this php forum should offer the function supporting directly uploading pics from my HD.
In fact, every photo bbs in china has this simple function.

This forum does have the capability of uploading directly to an internal gallery, but it's only available for Subscribing Members. See Here

As Big Mike said, the forum supports the functionality, but it is currently only available to subscribers. Due to the cost of server storage and the bandwidth required to support hosting thousands of photos, we decided to make this a perk of subscribing.
