Why does my 17-55mm 2.8 take a different picture than a 16-35mm 2.8?

As an update to my situation, I tried the Nikon 12-24mm F4 Lens today and I think it is what I'm looking for. A bit higher cost than I would like to spend, but I'll get it eventually. Thanks for the education!

You might consider the Tokina 12-24 zoom. I own one and it is a fine lens, built just as good as the Nikon at half the price. When I shoot this on my D2H it is the equivalent to a 18-36 in 35mm film terms.

So what length of lens could I get for my K10 that would be wide, but not fish-eyed? 10mm? 17mm? I have no friggen clue now.
