The chat room is being used, just not so much during the day. Get in there in the evening, US time and there are usually several in there. It's rare not to see Joe, me, zezzle, sara, Uni, and Dweller (though he doesn't talk) in there at night (our time). PlasticSpanner is in there quite a bit, too.
