Hi,

I have an Olympus E-510

I have a macro lense..

and a basic zooming lense..

I need a lense that I can take landscape shots with.. Can someone please explain what I should look for when finding a lense for landscape photography.. I know I need a wide angle lense.. But like i said before, what "terms" and technicals should I look for in my lense..

And help would be greatly appreated.. Thanks!

What sort of budget are you looking at and image quality requirements? That will greatly influence the type of lens that is in your range. Depending, they range from $150 to well over a $1000. Look in teh range around 10-22mm, 17-55mm or 24-70mm. Those are the fairly standard wide angle ranges that are available. Many makers have them available from large aperatures f/2.8 to smaller say f/4-5.6. Really depends on your budget.

im not asking for help on here to find a lense for me.. lol, Im just asking what the specifics of a lense are so I can make the right decision.. for example, I want to read

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/489405-REG/Olympus_261055_14_42mm_f_3_5_5_6_Zuiko_ED.html

and be able to understand what the specifications mean.. does that clarify my question better? :)

Although, if it could make things here easier.. these are the three lenses im looking at..

1)Olympus 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko EZ Zoom Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System)
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/358157-REG/Olympus_261051_14_45mm_f_3_5_5_6_Zuiko_EZ.html

2) Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko ED Zoom Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System)
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/489405-REG/Olympus_261055_14_42mm_f_3_5_5_6_Zuiko_ED.html

3) Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC G Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System)
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/354170-REG/Sigma_521107_18_50mm_f_3_5_5_6G_DC_Lens.html

From what I know.. the first choice is the best.. due to in the specifications "Magnification 0.16x"

I'm pretty sure the second one would be better. ED I'm gonna guess means low dispersion glass...
though olympus could just be pulling acronyms outta there butts..but who knows.

How would you know if the glass is higher quality?? Also, when it says "wide angle lense" does that mean the photo becomes longer.. or the size stays the same?

Just to put your guys mind at rest, i AM doing research also
