Nice photos, I like them. Now the first ones look like Fiddleneck, but the third one has me stumped. It is not a poppy, it looks like it has five petals and the congested buds and wooly leaves don't fit into anything I know. Do you know what it is?
 
I'm not sure what they are. I'm not good with desert plant ID. It might be Desert Globe Mallow (Sphaeralcea ambigua). It is a spire of small flowers (note size in relation to bee).

The more I look online, the more convinced I am that this is the Desert Globe Mallow.

Yes, I think I agree with your assessement! My Peterson's Guide is only for the Pacific States, and your Mallow grows too far east for the book.

My Audubon's Field Guide has it, though. The Peterson's Guide is more comprehensive for our natives so I am more familar with it.

I like orange flowers and there are very few true orange flowers to see.
