The subject and background blend together into a visually busy composition.
Better subject isolation using a larger aperture might half helped this image considerably.
As presented, the busy and nervous background highlights compete for attention.
Also not a fan of the processing.

I agree it's busy!

I think this is often a problem (in my ideas about photograph ) in your pictures. not sufficient separation of main subject from the rest. The rest should be supporting the main subject, not to compete with it. I thought, that in the age of digital manipulation this should be easy.

@timor finally we can agree on not one, but two points, the separation, and the ease of digital manipulation. LOL Though, this might have been a good time to use an off camera flash to solve the problem before it got to post.
