Winter Falls

Thats the name anyway, I took this with my little travel camera last week, it wasn't very winter like. Warmer in Portland that back here in NC.

In Silver Falls State Park, OR.

Did you have a ND filter on? The falls look a bit blown out by the longer shutter speed.

Thanks, no ND filter used. These were taken with my little PowerShot in manual mode on a tiny tripod. It has limited F stop so I under exposed then tried to bring the shadows back out in post. Still blew out the water some. Was a work trip with a side visit to the park, didn't have room to pack all the big stuff with all the tools, etc.

The falls are all in a 3-sided canyon of sorts, makes it very high contrast, hard to get the detail in the shadow and the bright white water at the same time.

Shutter speed was 1/5 sec at F8. PowerShot SX740.

I'm curious to see what it would look like with less exposure. I think it would look better with darker shadows and the whites being right than lighter shadows and the whites being blown.
