YN-565EX Slave mode

Hello, everyone!
Im here with a question... Im about to buy an external flash and I thought can I use a, for example, YN 565EX (Yongnuo YN565EX YN-565EX Flash Speedlite TTL ETTL for CANON 580EX II 5D III 650D 0847567051317 | eBay) flash as a slave to a Elinchrom RX 4 strobe to light up the background or whatever? Does it work that way? Or am I better off buying another Yongnuo flash?

Yes, it can work that way. The YN-565EX has three slave modes, S1, S2, and SL.

S1 is a regular optical slave trigger. It flashes in sync from seeing the flash from any other manual flash. This is what you want. This is same kind of slave trigger also built into the Elinchrom units.

S2 is same, but can be triggered from a TTL flash, for example a compact camera that does not have a manual flash mode.

SL can be triggered from Nikon or Canon commanders (but the Elinchroms cannot be used in this mode).
