Black-crowned Night Heron

Cool bird, awesome eyes, great focus. I see these around here occasionally, now if I can just remember the name.

[John Hunt]

Nice job, difficult to get a nice sharp image hiding in the tree like that.

[annamaria]

Nice and sharp good capture.

[Mattis]

The last one is just stunning. Great job capturing it like that!

[baturn]

Excellent!

[Hunter58]

I'll give you a helpful hint--it's a kind of heron. And it's black on top. And they're most active at night.
If you need more of a clue than that, you should just look in the OP, just above the picture where Hunter labeled it...

I only saw two at the Alligator Farm last trip and they were deep up under some tree boughs. Neat shots though and now I can get a good idea of coloring, etc.

[Radical]

Awesome shots and yes love the eyes

[BillM]

Love that second one, great capture

The way I wrote that comment I see why you took it that way. I meant I hope I still remember the name when and/if I see one again ................ I forget quickly.

red eye and green foliage, great contrast
